CONFIDENT SOLUTIONS, LLC
BRIDGING THE GAP BY EMPOWERING CHILDREN, FAMILIES, AND SCHOOLS THROUGH MAKING MINDFUL CONNECTIONS.
We wanted to share some information from the Social Thinking curriculum by Michelle Garcia. You can find the website here Social Thinking. Thinking socially doesn't just involve making friends or having a more successful social conversation at school. Social cognition plays out across our whole day. As we progress throughout our day, we are thinking of others and others are thinking about us! Sometimes, our child isn't fully understanding how specific social skills fit into the bigger picture for having success throughout their day whether it's asking for help, successfully talking with a peer or teacher, or reducing family friction, Sometimes, because of this struggle, a child will say that he or she doesn't care. This leaves us, as parents, to figure out how to help. Social skills classes are not always fun and can cause anxiety because it is work. We can appreciate the struggle our child is experiencing as we continue to help him/her learn the skills. The first step is helping him/her realize that their social thinking and related skills impacts more than just their world of friendships. Having a solid understanding of social thinking will help them be independent in the future.
Our next set of social skills classes begin in April and registration will be opening within a week. If you have questions about our group classes, or are interested in individual classes, please don't hesitate to reach out to us at firstname.lastname@example.org. We love connecting with you!
